Chinbuns is built on a simple idea: your pets’ records belong on your phone. Profiles, reminders, weights, vet visits, medications, checklists and settings are stored on your device and nowhere else. There is no account and no sign-up, and the developer can’t see any of it. Delete the app and it’s gone.
In the app, three optional features talk to outside services. Here is exactly what each one sends, and when.
The hay fund’s tip screen uses RevenueCat to handle in-app purchases. RevenueCat is contacted only when you open that screen, never at app start. It assigns a random anonymous ID (not linked to your name or Apple ID) and records any tip you make: which tier, the price, the date and your App Store country.
Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple. Chinbuns never sees your name, email or card details.
Off until you say yes. If you allow crash reports, the app sends an anonymous technical report when it crashes: what broke, the app version, device model and iOS version. No pet data, no personal information. Reports are processed in the EU. You can switch this off anytime in Settings.
Off until you turn it on in Settings. Only then does the app register with OneSignal, which delivers occasional notes: welfare tips and awareness days, never adverts. OneSignal receives a push token and basic device information (such as device type, iOS version, language and time zone). No pets, no names, no location. In version 1.0, turning the toggle off may not fully unsubscribe your device. A fix is on the way. To be removed straight away, write to hello@chinbuns.com.
Your care reminders don’t use OneSignal. They’re scheduled on your phone.
The vote and suggestion forms on chinbuns.com are processed by Netlify, which hosts the site, and store only what you submit. If you join the mailing list, your email address is kept by EmailOctopus and used only to send Chinbuns updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
No ads. No tracking, whether across other apps and websites or inside the app. No selling or sharing of data. If welfare notes are on, OneSignal records whether each note was delivered and opened.
Like any internet service, RevenueCat, Sentry and OneSignal see your device’s IP address when it connects to them. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
Crash reports and welfare notes are opt-in and can be switched off anytime in Settings. To ask about or delete any data held by these services, write to hello@chinbuns.com and the developer will handle it.
Chinbuns is a pet care app for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13.
